Designed by A.W.N. Pugin circa 1849, this polychromed glazed earthenware garden seat was made by Minton and Company Stoke-on-Trent and is shown as shape number 329 in the Minton factory shape book. It was decorated in number of color schemes, always with borders and medallions of stylized flowers and leaves. The same form is in the collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts.
