Throughout his career, Paul Jeanneney created ceramics of different shapes and textures. He fired simple vases, bottles, pitchers, and bowls, whose aesthetic was strongly inspired by East Asian pottery, local ceramic styles in Puisaye, as well as the trendy Symbolist movement, in which floral and organic motifs prevail. This caramel bottle incorporates all of these influences. The organic quality of the piece is emphasized by carefully executed drips of glaze visible on the bottle's main surface, and unique outline and shades of color that recall bamboo stems. Jeanneney has produced several vases similar to this one.
