Ringel d’Illzach’s turquoise-glazed Seated Frog Bowl, as its name indicates, takes the shape of a reclined frog, whose body forms a shallow open bowl. The surface of the piece is highly irregular and even lumpy, with myriad raised areas. Such irregularities can also be traced to the frog’s face, making the creature appear almost as if it were melting. The heavily-lidded and protruding eyes add an impression of overall fatigue.
