A fantastic earthenware vase by Galileo Chini. The decor consists of a lustrous, swirling underwater scene, with salmon swimming along the circumference of the lower body and flowing sea grass on the neck, executed in rich palette of dark blue, plum, and olive green. Three handles arching from the lip to shoulder are in perfect harmony with the curvilinear decor. A splendid example of the Stile Floreale in Italy.
