Come you lost Atoms to your Centre draw,
And be the Eternal Mirror that you saw:
Rays that have wander’d into Darkness wide
Return and back into your Sun subside

By Farid ud-Din Attar

Utilizing the natural tendency of glaze to melt and drip, Lachenal has created a wonderfully organic decorative style in his Primordial Vase. There exist three distinct layers of glaze; against a grey and cream background, the artist has dripped first a layer of cream, and second a layer of bright blood-red. As the name of the work suggests, there is something primordially chaotic about the vase, in its morbid color scheme and the molten quality of its neck.
