This beautiful earthenware vase uses a popular Art Nouveau motif, the peacock, as its main subject. Repetitive abstract patterns colored in various shades of blue, purple and yellow were hand-painted on the main body of the vase. This piece confirms Chini's creative approach to ceramic decoration, which incorporates references ranging from Gustav Klimt to Islamic pottery.
