This stylistically hybrid vase is a quintessential example of Galileo Chini's work as a ceramist. The Islamic shape of the vase contrasts with the hand-painted motifs of pre-Raphaelite inspiration, depicting two female figures conversing. The combination of yellow, blue, and white color tones also echoes the popular "albarelli" style, which grew out of commercial exchanges between Italy and the Middle East in the Renaissance period.
