Johan Borgersen - Historic - Jason Jacques Gallery

Woodcarver Johan Borgersen was a major adherent of the nationalistic Dragon Style. One of his best-known projects was the Fairy Tale Room, designed by Gerhard Munthe for the Holmenkollen Touristhotel built in Oslo between 1895 and 1897 (architect, Ole Sverre). The walls and ceiling of the room, measuring approximately 26 ½’ x 17’, were decorated with Borgersen’s carvings and reliefs of ancient Norwegian deities and folk motifs.
