Michael Anderson & Sons

Michael Andersen & Sons was founded c 1890 by Jens Michael Andersen in Bornholm, Denmark. With his four sons, all potters, the elder Andersen created kitchen ware and ancient-Greek-styled vases. The oldest son, Daniel Andersen (1885-1959) introduced the production of decorative animals and plants and the use of colorful lead glazes. In the 1920s his brother Michael Ejner Andersen introduced the Majolica series, "Dania" and "Kobolt." In 1935 Daniel's innovation, "the Persia Technique," received the gold medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels. Pictured: Michael Andersen & Sons mark and a model number.
