Carlo Bugatti

Carlo Bugatti trained at the Brera Academy in Milan and the Académie des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 88 , he began his professional career as an architect but is best known for his furniture designs. His work of the late 88 s features inlays of exotic wood, copper, parchment, and mother-of-pearl and are sometimes further embellished with tassels and metal ribbons. In 888, Bugatti began to win medals and commissions and his work earned an international following. In 9 4, Bugatti sold his studio in Milan and moved with his family to Paris, where he created designs for the city’s most fashionable shops. In 9 , he relocated to Pierrefond
near Compiégne, where he again worked in his own studio. In 9 5, at the venerable age of 79, Bugatti made his final move, joining his son Ettore in Molsheim.
