This stoneware vessel has a sculptural form that resembles a cluster of three large leaves. It is covered in a thick lava glaze that varies in texture and color from a bubbly raspberry and cream from the rim to the waist, and a smoother turquoise from the waist to the foot. Equal attention has been paid to the rich interior glaze. The naturalism of the form and serendipitous effects of the glaze were inspired by the Japanese tea wares that were highly esteemed by French ceramists in the late 19th century. By Charles Robalbhen and Henri Laurent-Desrousseaux. Marks: signed in glaze "ROBALBHEN PARIS", H.Laurent-Desrousseaux, 261
