Description

With four swirling handles emerging from its collared neck and seamlessly reconnecting at its waist, this vase suggests a seaweed-covered treasure recently retrieved from an underwater trove. The collar's flowing blue glaze heightens the watery effect, while the roughly textured beige body suggests a long and exotic history. The Fachschule Teplitz mark identifies this as the highly accomplished work of a student or recent graduate of the technical school (fachschule) that served the pottery-rich Teplitz region. Marks: Fachschule Teplitz cipher.
