Description

The spontaneity of the firing marks on the glaze of this porcelain baluster vase is surprising given the year of its manufacture (1877 as marked on the base). Abstract clouds of pale and dark blue float freely upon a ground of rich oxblood red, achieving effects usually associated with the years 1900-1905. Marks: SEVRES above 1877 and an unidentified artist's cipher.
