Description

This deluxe box features a magnificent repoussé and gem-studded vision of Christ of the Pentecost, an image copied from an interior tympanum (twelfth century) in the Basilique Ste-Madeleine in Vézelay, the French town from which Bernard of Clairvaux preached the Second Crusade in 1146.* the celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Christ’s disciples, Pentecost occurs 50 days after Easter. *Information on the Vézeley tympanum provided by Dr. Martin Eidelberg.
