This pair of candlesticks was designed for the Dutch metal ware company Urania in Maastricht, Netherlands, which was in operation from 1903-1910. It includes three branches attached to a central rod that arises from a round-shaped base, sculpted in the shape of rose petals. The use of pewter gives both objects a bright and monochrome silver color. Their elongated, organic shapes and stylized design reveal the influence of Art Nouveau style, of which Friedrich Adler was a leading figure.
