A stoneware vase of Japanese inspiration, this example of Dalpayrat’s work is a monumental quadrilobe form decorated with a superb copper flambé glaze and blue and yellow marbling. Networks of dripping glaze add a tactile and visual complexity that is a premonition of the Abstract Expressionist paintings of the 1950s. Marks: inscribed artist's name
