Description

An unusual stoneware pitcher designed by Emile Belet, this piece was executed at the Paul Milet atelier, Sevres, circa 1902-1903. The manner in which the octopus arms (braided with kelp) forms the handle, demonstrates the sophisticated marriage of design and function in the finest objects of this era. Marks: stamped artist's name, Sevres; incised 190.
