Description

With its bulging sides, sharp shoulder, and broad neck, this vase was probably inspired by Chinese spade-shaped models. The speckled and veined décor was produced by successive reduction firings with enamels whose shrinkage rates Decoeur expertly controlled. Decoeur's aesthetic of the 1920s approaches radical simplicity that was consistent with a change in taste after World War I. Marks: E D monogram [incised]
