Description

This vase proves that Mougin's Japonist aesthetic was as well-defined as his more florid sculptural style. The deep blues and reds that mix spontaneously in this flambé glaze are a result of natural phenomena that occur in the kiln. Perhaps as a consequence, the resulting colors and textures recall natural phenomena on far larger and smaller scales. Marks: engraved artist's signature, Nancy, 90
