With this shapely covered vase, the Ruskin Pottery pays homage to the so-called ginger jar form that was associated with China's Ming dynasty. The glaze on the lid and shoulders resembles the color and texture of a ripe red apple. Lower on the body, the red color softens and thins. Irregular splashes and streaks of blue and turquoise provide gorgeous contrasts. Marks: stamped Ruskin Pottery / 1911
