Description

This monumental vase was designed and executed by Effie Hegermann-Lindencrone for Bing & Grøndahl. The fine white porcelain body features underglaze painting with relief decoration depicting a swirling kelp bed inhabited by fish, a crab, and a lobster. Hegermann-Lindencrone was a premier designer-decorator at Bing & Grøndahl, and was internationally recognized for her underglaze painting, relief carving, and openwork decoration. Marks: Stamped Denmark, Manufacturer's seal / Painted BG, 1549/16.
