Description

The twisted finial, part of an overall mistletoe motif used in the bowl shown above, evokes the swirling rhythms of Art Nouveau, but the tropical color scheme and stylized plant ornamentation demonstrate the slow transition to the Art Deco era. By the mid-1920s, Jean-Jacques Lachenal relied more heavily on geometric rather than organic decorative effects. Marks: Lachenal ; Lachenal monogram [painted]
