Description

The striking stylized decoration on this vase is nearly Art-Deco in its simple geometry but is adapted from Karelian (native Finnish) textile sources. Slender in form, with two sharp transitions at points of narrowing, the ornamentation consists of bands of chevrons, diamonds, stars and a single encircling garland of half-circles in deep yellow, red, and black on a crazed off-white body.
