T.A.C. Colenbrander for Rozenburg. Marks: Manufacturer's cipher, Den Haag D, Kant, six dots. In size and simplicity, this candleholder simultaneously evokes the chalices of medieval legend and that most Dutch of all flowers, the tulip. It is ornamented with several zones of intricate design separated by numerous geometric string courses. The décor is called Kant [lace] and indeed may have been inspired by handmade lace. Abstraction and color inventively disguises the design source.
