This Japonist sake bowl bears a freckled, white-orange exterior. The less rigid, organic structure is evident and its irregular contours add to the overall elegance of the cup. A pale green color occasionally peeks through the off-white coloring of the bowl. At the turn of the century, Grittel shifted from a purely Japonist style to the flashier Art Nouveau style. This piece seems to bear the influence of both, as it combines the simplicity of Japanese design and the curvy, naturalistic shapes of Art Nouveau style.
