A baluster-shaped earthenware vase by Edmond Lachenal, this example is glazed in a subtle shade of celadon green that ultimately recalls precious Chinese jades. It is further decorated with a naturalisitc lizard whose arched body forms a handle, relief-sculpted vines and leaves, and painted white and green flower blossoms. Marks: Lachenal within an impressed rectangle
This vase is pictured in Alastair Duncan's Paris Salons: 1895-1914, vol. IV, p. 270. It was exhibited at La Société Nationale des BeauxArts, 1899.
