Description

An earthenware vase from the atelier of Paul Milet, this is a wonderful example of French Japonism, both in the imagery and use of enamel glazes to imitate cloissone. Milet worked in and eventually took over the atelier of his father Optat, a significant figure in French ceramics during the last third of the nineteenth century. The present piece is signed by the decorator V. Yung. (abbreviated).
