A striking combination of regularity and spontaneity characterizes many of Dalpayrat's monumental vases and is also present in this medium-sized example. The form appears to have been wheel-thrown, then deliberately deformed with two thumbprints on the broad shoulder. The high-fire glaze combines blood-red, ochre, black, and blue in a fiery composition of sparks and streaks. There is an unknown collection mark on the base.
