Designed by Paul Dachsel, this monumental, almost-cylindrical vase swells into two near-globes at the head and foot. The low-relief gold and green palm leaves at the top are likewise mirrored at the bottom, with connecting stems ornamenting the body. The underlying composition includes biomorphic areas of pebbled brown glaze upon a sandy tan and white background. The veins of the leaves are exaggerated, giving them a webbed appearance. The overall effect is exotic, suggesting a distant oasis. This piece, similar in conception to items by the Amphora company, clearly stands apart from Ernst Wahliss's Serapis Faience and Serapis Wahliss lines.
