Friedrich Eichmann was the senior professor at the Applied Arts School (Fachschule) in Teplitz, a ceramics center in Bohemia. The studio wares of this school were collected avidly by the Museum für angewandte Kunst in Vienna, and rarely found their way into private collections. Evil leaves look like the spinal columns of arachnid beasts while the lurid colors, dripping glazes call to mind a botanical nightmare. This Baudelairean vase is a Fleur du Mal.
