Description
Classical mythology continued to inspire artists well into the twentieth century. Here, mythological centaurs, merfolk, men and women cavort in a golden space that recedes into infinity. The three central figures, apparently representing Venus and her attendants, are distinguished from the surrounding figures by their composed postures and natural flesh tones.
