A stoneware vase by Raoul Lachenal, the body of this piece features an intricately modeled, carved, and incised plant design, with a stem and fruit motif that incorporate the undulating rim. Decorated with beige and red glazes, it is a fine example of Raoul Lachenal's Art Nouveau style, learned under the tutelage of his father, master ceramist Edmond Lachenal, and abandoned in the 1910s. Raoul Lachenal later became one of the leading ceramists of the Art Deco period. Marks: painted R Lachenal
