This Chalice Cup, inspired by the Christian Eucharist but taken into a Japanese form is an assemblage of two simple forms; a cone bottom topped with a swallow bowl form. The rim is textured with a ribbing decoration inspired by traditional French ceramic wares of La Puisaye from the Nièvre region of Burgundy. The basket wave effect on the base is created by using a textured paddle inspired by japanese ceramics. It is glazed in ochres, greens and browns with two rose contrast drips in the bowl of the chalice. Impressed with mark on the interior of the cup.
