This stoneware vase represents a stylized artichoke plant. Supported by four applied legs that form a stand, it suggests an ancient cooking vessel meant to be placed over a fire. The deep brown glazes and rustic surface further the allusion to age. Made in Nancy, France. Marks: signed Mougin and numbered 5195
