This extraordinary quadrilobe sphere wrapped in an irregular strip of clay hints at an opening seed pod. It conveys the impression of life coming into being, a concept that frequently found expression in objects of this era. the vase is decorated with a handsome copper-red glaze that puddles and sheds in response to the hills and valleys of clay. the turquoise and ochre marbling adds richness and vitality.
